Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), also known as Oriental medicine, is a comprehensive medical system that has been utilized to cure, treat, and even prevent various diseases for over 2,000 years now. TCM derives its name from the ancient belief in yin/yang, which are opposing natural forces such as light and dark, heaven and earth, spring, autumn, light, health, disease, love, and death. According to this belief, yin means «health» and yang mean «disease.» For centuries, TCM has employed acupuncture, herbal medications, dietary supplements, massage therapy, traditional Chinese food therapy, and Chinese herbs to promote good health, maintain good health, prevent illness, improve the quality of life, or even to heal.

TCM’s most important elements include acupuncture and herbal medicines, herbs, acupuncture, acupuncture, Qigong, which is a form exercise. The most fundamental principle of TCM is that any disease can be attributed to an imbalance in the Qi (or «energy») running through an individual’s bodies. This energy field can become blocked, narrowed, or otherwise weakened and cause a variety of health problems, including illness, pain, and even death. TCM believes disease is caused by Qi imbalances. Therefore, it is important to treat all aspects of health, mind, body and emotions equally.

A qualified tcm practitioner is one way to improve your health and Qi balance. There are many schools of thought in TCM, but all support the idea that an individual’s health can be improved through careful study and treatment by a trained and qualified tcm practitioner. Before becoming a qualified tcm practitioner one must first learn and then practice the Chinese language. To keep up your knowledge in TCM, you will need to continue your education once you are a licensed tcm practitioner.

One of the most important components of traditional Chinese medicine is acupuncture, which is the process of using thin, fine needles taken from a healthy human organ, such as the ear, to stimulate points on the body that are deemed to be blockages or hindrances to health. Acupuncture has been used for centuries throughout China. Although there is some controversy about the use of acupuncture within ancient Chinese medical practices many believe it was used to treat conditions like fevers, wounds and blood poisoning, nausea, pains and tumors. Today, many people use acupuncture to treat chronic conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure and joint pain. Even though there are critics of traditional Chinese medicine, many doctors and patients agree that acupuncture has helped to alleviate the symptoms of these and other chronic health issues. There are many benefits to acupuncture when it comes down to weight loss or maintaining good health.

Traditional Chinese medicine also includes the concept of Qi or Chi, which is a key component. The basic belief behind this belief is that the body must maintain its own healthy condition by maintaining the natural rhythm of life (known as «Qi») within the individual. Experts agree that unhealthy Qi patterns are a key to both health and disease. These can be caused by unhealthy eating habits, poor lifestyles, stress, or other health issues. By working with various herbal products such as white peony (Phellodendron amurense), dandelion (Scutellaria baiclensis), and liverwort (all parts of white peony), TCM practitioners believe that ailments can be prevented and treated. Herbal products, which include such widely known products as white peony, dandelion, liverwort, and white willow bark, are often used in combination with acupuncture and other traditional methods of treatment.

In addition to treating and preventing sickness, acupuncture as well as tai-chi can be used to improve one’s self image. People in Chinese culture consider themselves healthy when they feel healthy. Many Chinese people exercise regularly to maintain a healthy weight. People also believe that exercising regularly will make them happier and healthier over the long-term. This Chinese medicine is also able to help with anxiety and depression, particularly after a significant weight loss.
